How We Made This

Artist Intro: Alan Bruni was created mainly out of the desire to synergize my work with another artist.
About a month ago, I had posted an ad on Craigslist in the creative section looking for artists to film. Through this process, I got the chance to see a lot of great work from artists who have spent their lives dedicated to a craft, which was inspiring in itself.
And when I met with Alan in Hollywood at a small cafe off of Franklin, he started to tell me how he used to go to raves and dj a lot for outdoor festivals. During that time, he became influenced by the light sticks and began taking pictures using similar light effects. One of the photographs he showed me was where he was punching himself or at least the reflection from the camera light.
This photograph, I found visually stunning and wanted to base a story around the push and pull of light and darkness. Similar to the art of fencing, I found the concepts of human duality to be fertile ground for a visual experimentation.
