How We Made This Segment
One of my first few jobs was working as an assistant editor on the original Joe Millionaire. Evan Marriot would come in for interviews and part of my duties were to digitize footage into the computers so that the show could be shaped how the editors and producers wanted. In my boredom watching one particular interview I drew up some fake questions, which matched the answers he was providing. My mock questions played up the persona, which had been created around him. The lead assistant editor Kevin Manning had a camera, which was close in quality, and he brought it in the next day and we shot a parody. We cut it together fairly quickly and showed it to only a few people in the office. It quickly leaked (in the office), I thought I would be fired but to my surprise the executive producers and everyone else liked it. I hope you do too; and to be fair, Evan Marriott is actually a very nice and intelligent guy.
